8 Fun and Memorable Date Ideas

Activity-based dates are one of my top dating trends for this year, and recently Bustle asked for a few of my suggestions for fun date ideas. Here are some of my favorite recommendations that help you build a connection with someone, whether you’re on your first or one hundredth date together.

1.) Rollerskate circles around each otherEnjoy the vibes of good music while rollerskating together, and laugh at yourself if you fall. People love to see their dates be vulnerable and not take themselves too seriously. I’ve personally roller-skated at outdoor parks and indoor venues, which have different benefits depending on the venue.

2.) Show off your technique with pool – Most people don’t play pool often, so it’s the underdog date idea. It’s a low-pressure one-on-one competition with a sneakily flirty undertone. For those living in New York City, Sharks Pool Club is one of my favorite spots, because you can book a private room at different locations across the city.

3.) Win some prizes from arcade games – Arcades give you the chance to be childlike with your date and are very nostalgic. People also gravitate to specific games based on their interests and strengths, so you learn more about them. Dave & Busters has locations across North America and many cities have a local “barcode.”

4.) Show your creative side with a painting classTake an arts and crafts class and see how you both navigate the world. Does your date follow the rules and color in the lines, or are they abstract and make up the rules as they go?

5.) Have drinks with a viewElevate grabbing cocktails by booking a sunset cruise. You can make a great first impression and get to know each other with a picturesque backdrop. Where to find one? Check out Airbnb Experiences in your local area.

6.) Look into the future psychicSkip the small talk and start the date by having a psychic predict both of your futures. Afterward, talk about what was most exciting and least surprising for each of you.

7.) Wear your storytelling hat at a museum Walk through a museum you’ve never been to and create stories about each art piece. It can show you a lot about each other’s humor.

8.) Awake your senses with cooking classesCooking is a great hands-on and shared experience that also inspires you to talk about childhood memories and family traditions. Sur La Table offers different cooking experiences and baking classes (for the Great British Bakeoff fans).
