I remember my mom dropping me off at college, eager to grasp on to any extra minute with me before this truly new chapter of my life enclosed me.
Here on the last school night of my college career tears don’t fall but do come forward. Memories have been ascertained, and I’m stronger for the experiences. If you do things semi-right, meaning push yourself even a little, you’ll be transformed.
You know, like I now (but sometimes forget), mistakes are allowed.
We both are learning to not let someone treat us with less respect than we deserve.
You and I both have and will at some points feel alone. However, if we surrender, we find ourselves in these moments.
We realize that the past never remains the past, because “All things are lessons God would have me learn.” And those often didn’t finish when we thought they did.
Our hearts were and will be broken by romance, friendship, career and even family. But it is in those moments of being on the floor that we feel connected with the heart of the matter.
We remind ourselves that happiness is within reach. But happiness can come after pain. Happiness is not always what we imagined or wanted it to be. It’s even better than we could have thought.
The tears at the end of a chapter may fill our eyes. But it’s only because we have been on a journey… and oh how sweet the journey has been.
