In Helping Yourself, Help Someone Else

I think we usually go about our day sometimes thinking about how someone else has inconvenienced us and our time or energy. When you decide to save yourself time, think about how you can also save someone else time.

Today, even though I needed to be studying, I decided to do laundry in our residence hall basement and as I was getting ready to dry my clothes, only one dryer was available. Well I needed two and I could have taken the clothes out of one of the dryers, threw them on the table, put my clothes in and left. But instead of leaving, I folded the person’s towels that I took out as a way of saving her time but also showing her I’m not just some impatient person that only cares about me. She walked in as I was half way through and was so appreciative that I was doing that instead of the other times she walked in and her clothes were thrown everywhere. And it wasn’t like her clothes had sat in the dryer for an hour, I just simply wanted to dry my clothes all at once.

In helping myself out, I was able to her out and make a new friend with Brittany on the 4th floor of my hall.
