Let’s Show Some Skin

In middle school I realized how unhealthy ketchup and syrup is. I began eating a little healthier. I lost weight. In high school I learned horizontal stripes are not flattering. I became aware of how these things affect physical perception. Freshman year I voiced to others, to strangers, “I’m Jarryd and I’m gay.”

Today I wear shorts in my sophomore year of college. I’m showing my legs off. This is usually reserved for the safety of my home or the five days of the year I wear them outside. It represents my new confidence. Last school year I discovered the power of form-fitting clothes, but this year I’m learning the power of a little skin.

It all goes back to my middle school self that was a little overweight. He didn’t wear form-fitting clothes. He was a go getter, but he was self-conscious. He didn’t understand the first thing about dating. He was lost.

2012 feels sexy. It feels like a breath of fresh air. I am eating healthier and more various foods through trying vegetarianism. I’m learning to experiment with more looks with my clothes. Show off your legs! The world feels different with this freedom. Feel free and confident enough to go up that cute guy and ask for his number. He could have some potential. Or he could lead to a funny anecdote for the next time you hang out with a friend. Either way, a smile and laugh can happen.

Let’s show some skin and wear some confidence. The world feels different when you believe in yourself.
