Wheels Up!

NYC - HighlineAs the plane sat on the Jacksonville airport runway to NYC, I took everything out of my lap and braced myself for what was to come. One my favorite things about flying is the moment where you’re taking off and for a couple of seconds, the front wheel is in the air and the back wheels are touching the ground. We’re about to be in flight. What city we’re in escapes us, because we’re experiencing a special moment in time.

What I love about this special moment is the peace and excitement that comes with knowing you’re headed back to comfort or about to be thrust into a new environment. Either way, you deserve this. You’re on to the next step.

Over time you slowly become a seasoned traveler in certain areas. Airports and flying are like life. They symbolize connections, endings, beginnings and returns. You appreciate when things go smoothly and have to deal with unexpected delays.

However, when that front wheel leaves the ground, I feel the past uplifting me. I feel my most recent journey connecting with me. I feel myself becoming more whole – more of who I am meant to be.

In this special moment I feel life progressing. Life feels worth every smile, every cry, every laugh and every bold move.

You’re buckled in, so all that is left to do is look out the window. Leave the past where it is and embrace what is ahead.
