For the Strivers! (And The Hills Fans)

1382847630797Last month I received the opportunity of a PR guy and girl’s college career – to fly very last-minute to NYC and help a supervisor with a project. We’d both fly back in less than 24 hours from that call. For The Hills fans, it was a moment we thought only existed for Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port. For my fellow strivers as I sat in night traffic in NYC upon arriving, it was a moment in which I felt extreme gratitude and like an unknown dream was coming true.

My memories easily conjure up the feelings I had in this 24 hour period of pure excitement, disbelief, exhaustion and a most importantly, a desire to do well. A lesson that will always remain from this experience is that – special moments appear when we’ve done great work, along with believing in and showing ourselves every day of every week. When the opportunity presents itself, we must feel empowered and speak up for ourselves.

MyCollage_33This opportunity was something people older than me haven’t been able to experience. As a twenty-something growing into my career and life, I take that to heart. However, I also strive for the next assignment that will fill my heart with excitement, mind with memories and thoughts with lessons like this does to this day.

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
